Birthplace: Binghamton, NY Grew
up: Johnson City,
NY Started playing: clarinet and piano at age 8; bassoon at
age 13 Education: Eastman School of Music Bachelor of
Music and Performer’s Certificate Began with CSO: after college In my
iPod: Prokofiev,
Stravinsky, Mozart, Higdon Outside ensembles or groups: Quartet Amici with Robert Firdman
(violin), Chris Saetti (viola) and Luis Biava (cello) Main
Teachers: K. David Van
Hoesen, Ryohei Nakagawa When not rehearsing or performing on stage
with the CSO, I spend my time...making reeds for performing or
rehearsing on stage with the CSO. If I had not become a professional
musician, I may have become a…city planner, definitely. In
the car, I listen to…traffic noise The last book I read
was…Loud and Clear by Anna Quindlen Most people would be
surprised to learn that…my bassoon was stolen once in a mugging.
I took matters into my own hands and got it back, with the eventual assistance
of the Columbus Police and SWAT team. The craziest thing I have ever
done is…best forgotten. To prepare for a performance,
I…practice, make reeds, listen to recordings If I could
choose to play another instrument, it would be the…harp My
most embarrassing musical moment was…losing the entire folder of music
right before a YPC and having to play the concert without music. It went
pretty well, so I guess it wasn’t that
embarrassing. |
